Wooden Cupboard  

The great thing about a wooden cupboard is that it is something we have all grown up with. Most old homes have those wooden elements to them and that makes it easy to match our wooden furniture with them. The other nice thing about wood is that it is usually a treated material and will last.  However, it does tend to fade in the sun. If you are going to invest in a cupboard make sure to treat it with oil at least once a year. This will prevent it from fading and aging in only certain places. Cottonseed oil works the best.

You should find that although these all fall under the heading of wood, there are many different types of wood that all have their individual colors, grains and characteristics. Some wooden furniture tends to be sturdy and heavy, like oak for example. Pine is normally a lighter and a bit less expensive. Pine is normally a cheaper wood to produce and therefore pine furniture follows from that but don’t discard it because you think everyone has it. Bear in mind that pine is mass produced for a reason. It works well as a base for your wooden furniture.

The wooden cupboard is a standard in most of our homes but that doesn’t mean that we need to be boring in our approach. You can go wild when decorating. It isn’t an overbearing material and can be adorned and complemented rather than taking center stage.
